Back when Ala Moana still had the old Crack Seed store on the lower level, Papa would take me there with sticky fingers and big dreams. 🍬🌺
I’d press my face to the glass jars—mui, lemon peel, rock salt plum… but nothing beat those li hing Icees. Bright red, a little salty, a little sweet, and so cold it made my brain freeze and my heart happy. ❄️❤️
We’d sit on the bench outside, legs swinging, trading bites and stories.
The store’s gone now, but every time I taste li hing, I’m back there—just a little sprout with a frozen smile and pockets full of seed. 🌈
