Old Saimin House, Kalihi • Liko Sticker

Back when the paint was peeling and the door cracked open from wind, Papa would take me to the Old Saimin House in Kalihi. 🍜

We’d squeeze into a booth, order fried saimin with extra hot mustard, and always get the meat sticks—still sizzling, still perfect. He’d blow on the noodles for me, even when I insisted I was a big sprout. 🥢💛

It wasn’t fancy, but it was ours. Just steam, slurps, and stories.

Now the kitchen’s cold and the doors are closed, but every time I smell ginger or hear a pan sizzle, I’m back there—with Papa, sharing one more bite.
